MEMBERSHIP DETAILS
All the benefits of joining BVSC.

 

 Why not join BVSC? Below are just some of the benefits your group could take advantage of: 

  • Free copies of SPOTLIGHT, BVSC’s bi-monthly newsletter
  • Your membership representative would have the ability to decide policy and work which is done by BVSC by voting at BVSC AGMs and/or standing for election to BVSC’s Executive Committee
  • Printing service at reduced rates
  • Hire of equipment including flip charts, collecting boxes

In addition, BVSC can offer: 

  • Advice on financial management from our Community Accountant
  • Portable access to the FunderFinder database
  • Special Mailings - notice of events, special briefing papers, etc
  • Access to BVSC’s Information and Library
  • Free advertising space in the newsletter to publicise forthcoming events or to recruit new volunteers
  • Introduction to a network of voluntary groups working within the borough of Bexley

IN RETURN FOR THIS WE ASK THAT OUR MEMBERS: 

  1. Membership is free for the first year but in subsequent years: ‘Will pay an annual subscription of a minimum of Ł10.00 (ten pounds) each financial year commencing on 1st April. (Organizations which are constitutionally debarred from making such payments may apply for special consideration.) Any organization will cease to be a member if the annual subscription is not paid by 30 September in any one year.’
  1. ‘Will undertake to contribute to the assets of the Council in the event of the same being wound up while he is a member, or within one year after he ceases to be a member, for the payment of the debts and liabilities of the Council contracted before he ceases to be a member, and of the costs, charges and expenses of winding up, and for the adjustment of the rights of the contributories among themselves, such amount as may be required not exceeding one pound.’

BVSC’S MEMBERSHIP POLICY 

Membership of Bexley Voluntary Service Council will be open to any voluntary or community organisation/group whose work contributes towards the benefit of some part or all of the community in the London Borough of Bexley except where the organisation: 

  • is a national or regional body which happens to have a base in the Borough but does not undertake any work for the benefit of the connunity in Bexley;
  • is not committed to equality of opportunity;
  • does not have charitable aims;
  • is a political party;
  • was set up by statutory instrument or has more than half the membership of its executive Committee representing the statutory and/or private sectors. This does not include a committee member who also happens to be a member of the Council or works in the private sector, but serves in his or her own right.

All new membership applications will be presented to the Executive Committee for approval. Individual members will only be admitted in exceptional circumstances with the approval of the Executive Committee.

All applications have to be considered by BVSC’s Executive Committee which meets four times per year and you will be informed of their decision as soon as possible.
