BVSC exists to promote voluntary and community action as a means of improving the quality of life for people in Bexley, by:

supporting the work of voluntary organisations and volunteers in Bexley
assisting them to promote their views on issues and decisions that affect them
helping them to identify and respond to the unmet needs within the community

Membership of Bexley Voluntary Service Council (BVSC) is open to all voluntary and community organisations who work for the benefit of the borough of Bexley and its residents.

Our work falls into 6 main areas:

1. Providing information and resources including Voluntary Sector News and a printing service

2. Bringing the voluntary sector together to exchange views and ideas through a variety of forums and networks

3. Supporting voluntary sector development by assisting new groups and projects and enabling existing groups to develop

4. Running a Volunteer Centre to recruit volunteers for local voluntary groups

5. Assisting the voluntary sector to promote their views on issues that affect them

6. Promoting partnership with the public and private sectors in the formulation of policy and development and delivery of services.

BVSC is managed by an Executive Committee whose members are directors of the company and trustees of the charity. They are responsible for the overall management of the organisation, determining policy and ensuring that policy is implemented by the staff through the Chief Executive.
